Works of Remembering

The poems in this collection are part of a larger body of work, where watercolor, poetry, sound, and short art films come together as one artistic universe.

Each form offers another way into the work. Here, the voice becomes words on the page. A quieter way of entering what each piece holds.

Devenir

J’ai longtemps cru

que pour être aimée,

il fallait être sage.

Alors j’ai appris à me taire,

à retenir mes larmes,

à devenir celle qu’on attendait.

Puis un jour,

quelque chose en moi

a voulu respirer.

ceux qu’on aime.

Parfois,

on essaie simplement

quand on laisse l’autre

devenir lui-même

Where My Soul Speaks

The closest one can get to me

is through my art.

Through deep brown eyes

and a faint smile,

you may catch a glimpse

of who I am.

Beautiful, yes.

But only a reflection.

Only a fragment

of a soul too vast

to be held by a face.

How do I tell you my story

without the pain?

Without the tears?

Without the screams

of a heart that has survived

what words could never carry?

My story.

My voice.

They live more clearly

in my stanzas,

in my brush strokes,

in the colors that reveal

what I cannot always say.

There,

I am more visible

than I have ever been.

You know me.

But do you truly know me?

My art,

the language of my soul.

The language of the self

that exists beneath the surface.

The part of me

that does not need to explain itself,

because it can only be felt.

Through every word.

Through every stroke.

I journey inward,

not to find someone new,

but to remember.

To remember the woman

who was always there.
