Where My Soul Speaks explores the space between what can be seen and what can truly be known.
A face can offer a glimpse of a person. A smile, a gaze, a gesture can reveal something, but only something. There are parts of ourselves that cannot be fully expressed through appearance, conversation, or even language.
In this work, I explore what happens when that inner world finds another way to speak.
Through watercolor, I move beyond the visible surface and into the layers of memory, feeling, identity, and self-discovery. The shifting forms and deep tones create a space that feels both intimate and elusive, like looking inward and finding something that has always been there, waiting to be remembered.
For me, Where My Soul Speaks is not simply a portrait. It is a reflection on the distance between being seen and being truly known.
The accompanying poem came from that same place. It speaks of the parts of myself that are difficult to translate into ordinary words, and of how poetry and painting can sometimes reveal what language cannot.
Through every word and every brushstroke, I return inward. Not to become someone new, but to remember the woman who was already there.
